We recently touched on Sen. Gerald Allen's bill now in the state legislature that would negate federal laws on guns and ammunition. At that time, the bill was unavailable to be read online, and we assumed it applied to new federal laws. Guess what? It applies to any federal law:
(4) The State of Alabama hereby declares that any and all federal acts, laws, orders, rules, and regulations related to firearms, firearm accessories, or ammunition are a direct infringement on the Second Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America and therefore are unconstitutional.
Would our legislature pass this? We would certainly hope not; however, if it should be passed, state taxpayers would be footing the bill to defend it.
On the bright side, just think of the tourists it would bring to our state. Visit Alabama - Buy Your Own Machine Gun Legally. Would this law cover Jewish space lasers? Who knows...after all, this is Alabama where laws are passed that no one reads or understands.
