Here's an Idea for our Legislature: Make the Parents Pay

Earlier this week, Muscle Shoals Police Chief Clint Reck stated the parents of a wayward middle school youth knew the child had a gun. He further stated he planned on taking action against them. How should they be punished?

If our State Legislature really wanted to cut down on such incidents, it would impose a $25,000.00 fine on parents/guardians who failed to keep firearms secured and a $50,000.00 fine on those who knew their child was in possession of a firearm used in these incidents.
