An educator recently asked us to comment on the latest statistics for Florence High School. The academic numbers didn't surprise us as much as the number of students classified as disadvantaged.
The report card listed 58% of the student body as disadvantaged. The percentage of citizens living below the poverty line is 19. Why the difference?
Poorer people have more children? That's probably true. The more affluent send their children to one of the religious schools based in Florence? That's also probably true.
