It's been one year since Lewis Dean Simpson, 58, died in the Lauderdale County Detention Center after an arrest by City of Florence Police. Now Dean's widow has brought suit against the City, one Florence police officer, and several LCDC employees.
Robbie Orr Simpson had been married to Dean since 2016. According to Robbie, no one rendered any medical aid to Dean after he was brought to the detention center late on April 30, 2024. He passed away around 2:00 p.m. on May 1, 2024.
The civil suit will be heard in Lauderdale County Circuit Court. Attorneys representing Robbie Simpson are located in Clanton and Birmingham.
